The Compass - - KEYIN COLLEGE -

The industry of esthetics is dynamic and constantly growing. Today, people are placing more importance on attractiveness of their skin, nails and entire body. Through the Esthetics Program, students will learn essential skills such as manicures/pedicures, hair removal, sterilization and sanitation techniques that are required of preferred employees in the esthetics field. The Esthetics Program will prepare graduates for immediate employment in the personal care industry.

47-week diploma granting program and includes a 3-week work term.

I would like to congratulate Keyin College, Carbonear Campus a very Happy 25th Anniversary. I attended the Esthetics program at the Carbonear Campus in September 2010 and graduated the following year August 2011. Since graduating from the program, I am and have been very successful as an Esthetician. I have worked with many salons in the Carbonear area in the last couple of years and am now employed the Hair Gallery – Spa de Sante in Harbour Grace. My success has been due to hard work and perseverance as an Esthetics student at Keyin College, Carbonear Campus. The helpful and professional instructors and administrative staff there made everyday a joy to attend a post-secondary college. Heather Pike - Esthetics Graduate

The training focus of the Hairstylist program is to provide students with the skills, knowledge and experience to work as a Hairstylist or Barber. Students acquire all the fundamentals of nail care, make-up application, esthetics, color analysis and much more. Our program specializes in Hair Design instructing students on how to cut, style, perm, color and many more valuable skills. The practical experience you acquire in our salon will develop your expertise in hairstyling and shop management.

I entered the hairstyling program at Keyin College in Carbonear on a whim after being named Miss Avalon Achievement in 2009 and being awarded a scholarship to attend the school through the Asset to the Community Award. When I started out at Keyin, I was very unsure if I would make a career out of hairstyling. I was certainly surprised when my talented instructor, Joan Crocker, expressed that she saw a talent within me. This motivation allowed me to devote myself to the industry, subsequently leading me to graduating with honors status, as well as the O’Keefe Award for Superior Production Knowledge of the Industry. I am exceptionally proud to be a Keyin College graduate and I make sure people know where I am from. I received a top notch education from very skilled and charismatic instructors. I would highly recommend the Hairstyling program at Carbonear Campus to anyone who is serious about making a career within the beauty industry. Sarah Downey - Hairstylist Graduate
