Brake’s Heat­ing earns bye into fi­nals with first place fin­ish

The play­offs have started in the Car­bon­ear men’s slo-pitch soft­ball league with Brake’s Heat­ing earn­ing the bye to the cham­pi­onship round and leav­ing Butt’s Esso and East Coast Con­crete to bat­tle in the semi­fi­nals.

In Game 1 of the best-of-seven se­ries on Aug. 26, Butt’s struck first with an 11-7 vic­tory over East Coast at the Car­bon­ear Recre­ation Com­plex.

Ce­cil Tay­lor led the vic­tors with three hits, while Gord King, Marty Til­ley, Scott Cleary and Ja­son Power chipped in with two hits apiece.

For East Coast, Charl Clarke, Dennis King and Ralph Slade had three hits each.

Scott Cleary took the win, while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the loss.

East Coast evened the se­ries at 1-1 with a 5-1 vic­tory in the sec­ond game of the evening.

Ralph Slade lead the way for East Coast with three hits, while Dennis King and Chad Par­sons had two hits apiece.

In de­feat, Marty Tilly and Scott Cleary had two hits each.

Ger­ard Grif­fin pitched the vic­tory, while Scott Cleary took the loss.

Games 3 and 4 were set for Aug. 29.

Aug. 22

In the first game, East Coast de­feated Butt’s by a score of 9-4.

Dennis King belted a home­run, along with two other hits to lead the win­ners. Nick Ros­siter also picked up three knocks, while Blair Par­sons, Charl Clarke, Shan­non Chafe and Tom Har­ris had two hits apiece.

In de­feat, Ce­cil Tay­lor was the top hit­ter with two hits. Ger­ard Grif­fin picked up the vic­tory, while Frank Fin­layson took the loss.

In the fi­nal game of the reg­u­lar sea­son, Brake’s Heat­ing blanked East Coast by a score of 5-0.

Mat Davis, Tyson Crant, Grant Tobin and Sam White lead the at­tack with two hits each. For East Coast, Charl Clarke, Chad Par­sons and Shan­non Chafe had two hits apiece. Sam White tossed the vic­tory, while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the loss.
