East Coast, Brake’s to meet in fi­nals

It took six games for East Coast Con­crete to put away Butt’s Esso in the semi­fi­nals of the Car­bon­ear Slo Pitch Soft­ball League at the Car­bon­ear Recre­ation Com­plex on Sept. 2.

East Coast will now meet Brake’s Heat­ing in the cham­pi­onship se­ries.

In the de­cid­ing game, East Coast dou­bled Butt’s Esso 6-3 to clinch the se­ries.

Blair Par­sons, Nick Ros­siter, Ger­ard Grif­fin, Mat His­cock and Alf Bourne each col­lected one hit in the vic­tory.

Lead­ing the of­fence for Butt’s was Jeff Par­sons with two hits, while Ja­son Power, Scott Cleary and Marty Til­Ley con­nected for one hit apiece.

Ger­ard Grif­fin toed the rub­ber for the vic­tory, while Scott Cleary took the loss.

Game 5 went ear­lier in the evening with East Coast crush­ing Butt’s 11-2 to pull ahead three games to two in the se­ries.

Charl Clarke paced the of­fense for Butt’s with two hits, in­clud­ing a home­run. Mike White­way, Wil­son Snow, Bradley Har­ris and Ryan Dean each col­lected two hits.

For the losers, Ja­son Power had two hits, while Gord King, Scott Cleary and Jeff Par­sons had one hit.

The cham­pi­onship se­ries was set to kick off on Sept. 5.

In Game 4, Dennis King, Chad Par­sons and Wil­son Snow had three hits to pace the East Coast at­tack, while Peter chubs and Ryan Dean had two hits apiece. For Butt’s, Paul O’Leary and Ce­cil Tay­lor had two hits each. Ger­ard Grif­fin picked up the win while Scott Cleary took the loss. In Game 3, Ja­son Power, Scott Cleary and Marty Til­ley had two hits apiece for the win­ners. In de­feat, Nick Ros­siter, Mike White­way and Alf Bourne had two hits each. Scott Cleary pitched the vic­tory, while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the loss. The win put Butt’s briefly ahead in the se­ries 2-1.
