The Town of Cupids will have a full council for the next four years.

Nominations for the next round of municipal elections closed on Sept. 3 with Cupids receiving exactly seven candidates.

This means those seven will be acclaimed and comprise the next town council in the community.

The group will feature four of the five current members of council, along with three new members.

Returning for another term are Deputy Mayor Harold Akerman and councillors Christine Burry, Kevin Connolly and Douglas Furey.

The new faces around the table are Darrin Akerman, Henry Hurley and Thomas Power.

Mayor Ross Dawe is the only member not returning.

Dawe announced his retirement two weeks prior to nomination day.

The community has been getting by with just five members on council since a couple of councillors resigned from their positions early in 2013.

Next step for the new council will be to designate a new mayor and deputy mayor.

That is expected to be done at the Sept. 10 regular council meeting at the Cupids Town Hall.
