MERCER, Mrs. Ruby — passed away at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal on Satur­day, Septem­ber 7, 2013. Mrs. Mercer, of Up­per Is­land Cove, was 73 years old. She leaves to mourn her loving fam­ily: hus­band Harry Mercer, daugh­ters Mar­lene (Keith) Par­sons and Peggy (Ron) Blair, grand­chil­dren Lori (Irv­ing) Par­sons, Peggy (Robert) Starkes, Jud­son Par­sons, Ryan Blair and Nikita Blair, great-grand­chil­dren Maxwell Par­sons and Rachel Ruby Starkes, brother Azariah (Mil­dred) Coombs and sis­ter Sadie Young. Pre­de­ceased by: par­ents John and Ida Coombs, sis­ters Susie (Bill) Miller and Bertha (Ray) Lun­dri­gan, brother-in-law Thomas Young. The fu­neral ser­vice took place at St. Peter’s Angli­can Church and Ceme­tery, Up­per Is­land Cove on Tues­day, Septem­ber 10, 2013, 2 p.m. The fam­ily re­ceived rel­a­tives and friends at Slade’s Fu­neral Home, Cranes Road, Up­per Is­land Cove. She leaves to mourn her loving fam­ily: hus­band Lester Simms, Sons Bradley (Sonya) and Colin (Stacey), brother Wil­liam (Mil­li­cent), brother-in-law Vic­tor (Roslyn), sis­ters-in-law Rose­mary and Heather (Cameron), nieces and neph­ews and a large num­ber of other rel­a­tives and friends. Pre­de­ceased by: Par­ents Stan­ley and Mary Mercer, and Par­ents-in-Law James and Joyce Simms.
