The Compass - - THE COMPASS -

More than half of the current town council in Heart’s Content are seeking reelection on Sept. 24. When nomination day closed in the community on Sept. 3, there was a total of 10 names on the ballot.

This includes the town’s deputy mayor, Art Cumby, and councillors Fred Cumby, Glenda Hiscock, Tolson Rendell and Patricia Smith.

There are five new people seeking election.

Mayor Don Blundon and Coun. Fred Driscoll are not seeking re-election.

Blundon has been the town’s mayor for the past 36 years, having served as the top elected official in the community since 1977.

Along with the incumbents, the following also find their names on the ballot: Carson Evely, Brian Fitzpatrick, Joe Masters, Mike Middelkoop and Doug Piercey.

Residents will be voting to fill seven positions on the Heart’s Content town council.

Once that has been done, the council will then selected its mayor and deputy mayor.
