Au­di­ence mem­bers will have the op­por­tu­nity to vote for the Peo­ple’s Choice award dur­ing in­ter­mis­sion.

Miss New­found­land and Labrador will also be crowned on Sept. 29.

The gala be­gins at 7 p.m. and will only con­sist of one show, un­like pre­vi­ous years where there had been two.

Miss NL com­mit­tee mem­bers said this year’s event may not have a large num­ber of con­tes­tants — eight — but they are defi- nitely women of high cal­i­bre.

Those com­pet­ing for Miss New­found­land and Labrador are Car­bon­ear na­tive Gina Col­bourne, Bay Roberts res­i­dent Kourt­ney Lake, St. John’s res­i­dent Bev­er­ley Earle, Char­lotte Gushue of Gan­der, Chelsea But­ler from Con­cep­tion Bay South, Court­ney Wood­ford of Tri­ton, Erin Ever­ard of Par­adise and Melissa Lan­non from Labrador City.

Other ex­cit­ing events

This will be the fifth year for the Agri­cul­ture Spell­ing Bee event.

Stu­dents from across the re­gion will have the chance to par­tic­i­pate and win prizes on Thurs­day, Sept. 26.

This year, the ever pop­u­lar Prince, Princess and Baby Pageants will be held on Satur­day af­ter­noon, Septem­ber 28 start­ing at 1:30 p.m.

There will also be a tal­ent show on Sat- ur­day and a teen night on Fri­day where lo­cal en­ter­tain­ment will per­form.

And fi­nally the an­nual Fall Fair pa­rade will be­gin around 12:00 noon, Satur­day, Sept. 28 from St. Fran­cis School in Har­bour Grace.
