Recreation NL announces scholarships
Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador has released information on the 2013 Student Scholarship program designed for recreation students.
The scholarships were developed with the assistance of recreational leaders in the province, and will be given to two applicants.
“These scholarships have been put into place to assist with the long term solution for our communities’ recreation needs,” said Recretion NL President Dawn Sharpe.
Recreation NL is looking for students who display innovation, commitment and leadership in their academic work, and exhibit similar traits as community recreation volunteers.
“We are looking forward to reviewing all of the applications for the scholarships and learning about our future recreation leaders’ expertise and experiences,” said Rob Button, recreation practitioners and facilities representative. The deadline for applications is Oct. 25. “Recreation leaders are vital to our community development, especially with the growing need for physical activity, inclusion and quality of life,” said Sharpe.
