Harbour Grace man facing charges
A 30-year-old Harbour Grace man was held in police custody from Sept. 17-19 after allegedly assaulting his common-law girlfriend at their residence and detaining her at another residence in Bonavista.
Wilford Templeman made a court appearance Sept 18 in Harbour Grace provincial court. He is being charged with assault, forcible confinement and failure to comply with an undertaking from previous charges by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
The girlfriend alleges Templeman assaulted her in their home on Monday night before forcing her to drive him to Bonavista the next morning.
At around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday the girlfriend was able to make a phone call to family members, who told her to contact the RCMP.
Officers from the Bonavista detachment arrested Templeman at the resident without incident.
He appeared in court in Placentia Thursday and was released under several conditions, including an overnight curfew, having no contact with the victim and he must live at a residence in Bonavista.
Templeman’s next court date is scheduled for Nov. 19 in Harbour Grace.
