Har­bour Grace man fac­ing charges

A 30-year-old Har­bour Grace man was held in po­lice cus­tody from Sept. 17-19 af­ter al­legedly as­sault­ing his com­mon-law girl­friend at their res­i­dence and de­tain­ing her at another res­i­dence in Bon­av­ista.

Wilford Tem­ple­man made a court ap­pear­ance Sept 18 in Har­bour Grace pro­vin­cial court. He is be­ing charged with as­sault, forcible con­fine­ment and fail­ure to com­ply with an un­der­tak­ing from pre­vi­ous charges by the Royal New­found­land Con­stab­u­lary.

The girl­friend al­leges Tem­ple­man as­saulted her in their home on Mon­day night be­fore forc­ing her to drive him to Bon­av­ista the next morn­ing.

At around 6:30 p.m. Tues­day the girl­friend was able to make a phone call to fam­ily mem­bers, who told her to con­tact the RCMP.

Of­fi­cers from the Bon­av­ista de­tach­ment ar­rested Tem­ple­man at the res­i­dent with­out in­ci­dent.

He ap­peared in court in Pla­cen­tia Thurs­day and was re­leased un­der sev­eral con­di­tions, in­clud­ing an overnight cur­few, hav­ing no con­tact with the vic­tim and he must live at a res­i­dence in Bon­av­ista.

Tem­ple­man’s next court date is sched­uled for Nov. 19 in Har­bour Grace.
