Local skaters perform well at sectionals
Skaters from the Conception Bay North region came home with medals from the 2014 Skate NL Sectional Championships at the Glacier in Mount Pearl on Nov. 8-9.
Port de Grave skater Jenna Efford, 12, set a personnel best score of 64.01 en route to the gold medal in the pre-novice women’s division. That score was almost a full point ahead of the second place finisher.

In the pre-juvenile dance category, two teams from the Conception Bay North Skating Club finished first and second.
The team of Brianna Russell and Andrew Littlejohn narrowly bested the team of Julia Keefe and Ethan Parsons to take the gold medal. Keefe and Parsons would take home the silver medal.
Littlejohn and Parsons would do figure skating battle again in the pre-juvenile men (under-14) division. This time Parsons got the better of his CBNSC teammate with a score of 16.63 to take first place. Littlejohn scored 13.19 to finish in second place.
In the pre-juvenile women (udner-11) category, CBNSC skater Sarah Dawson finished third with a score of 18.89.
Maya Petten narrowly missed the podium in the juvenile women (under-14) division, finishing in fourth place with a score of 20.68. The third place finisher, Hannah Robertson of Stephenville, finished with 20.76.
Toni-Lynn Parsons finished seventh in the juvenile category.
