Lo­cal busi­nesses re­ceive de­vel­op­ment in­vest­ments

Re­cip­i­ents of the pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment busi­ness de­vel­op­ment in­vest­ments have been an­nounced.

Five com­pa­nies from New­found­land have been awarded de­vel­op­ment in­vest­ments to­talling $42,600. Two are from the Trin­ity-Con­cep­tion-Pla­cen­tia re­gion.

To qual­ify, the busi­ness much be a small-to-medi­um­sized en­ter­prise.

Grates Cove Stu­dio was pre­sented with fund­ing to as­sist craft producers to pur­chase and in­stall new sig­nage for their busi­ness.

In Pla­cen­tia, the Pla­cen­tia Area Cham­ber of Com­merce has been as­sisted with fund­ing for a con­fer­ence and ex­hib- it at the Pla­cen­tia Bay In­dus­trial Show­case.

Other re­cip­i­ents in­clude Afinin Labs in St. John’s to as­sist with at­ten­dance at na­tional and in­ter­na­tional trade shows to mar­ket soft­ware, Marie’s Knits in Clarenville to as­sist with at­ten­dance to craft shows and Vogue Fur­ri­ers Ltd. in St. John’s to as­sist with fund­ing to China for a trade mis­sion.

The Depart­ment of In­no­va­tion, Busi­ness and Ru­ral De­vel­op­ment gives grants, in­vest­ments and loans to busi­nesses that are look­ing to grow in their in­dus­try, and want to take the next step, but can not do so with­out fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance.
