Looking back to 1988, when he first began working as a real estate agent with Hamlyn Realty, he remembers not even having a fax machine. He decided he needed one to stay keep up-to-date with rapid changing technology — after six months.
When Barry received a fax from a customer who was working on the ocean, it astounded him.
“I couldn’t believe I was receiving a fax from someone on a boat,” he says.
Since then, he opened his own office, created a website and began buying and selling online with potential buyers and sellers.
Although Barry started his business small in 1993, over time it bloomed into a prosperous business.
Now he is well established and is a household name throughout the area.
For 20 years, Barry and his agents have sold thousands of properties.
“It’s great to be celebrating 20 wonderful years of doing a job I look forward to each
and every day,” he says.
On top of his plans to open new offices and increasing the number of agents, Barry expects the business will continue to be on track for bigger and better things in the future.
“I see the company doubling in size and tripling in sales over the next five years,” he describes. “We are building a Cracker Jack team of dedicated sales agents and have expansion plans for the St. John’s market and westward across our province. I would eventually like to open an office in Labrador.”
