Cavendish 50-plus bowl­ing wel­comes three to 200 club

The Cavendish 50-plus Bowl­ing Club wel­comed three new mem­bers to its 200 club on Dec. 18 at the Old Mill Lanes in Bay Roberts.

The club saw Al­bert Critch, Hay­ward Legge and Ge­orge Coish join its ranks with some suberb per­for­mances. The trio join Cyril Jack­son.

Coish also holds the top av­er­age in the club amongst male com­peti­tors (149), as well as the top high triple score on the sea­son with 556.

Jack­son holds the top mark it the men’s high sin­gle with a score 214.

On the ladies’ side, Daphne Jack­son holds tiop marks in both the high av­er­age ( 133) and the high triple (436). Judy Chislett, with a score of 166, is the top per­former in the high sin­gle.

The Chop Offs are the top scor­ers in the high team triple with a score of 1,662.

JUST IN TIME FOR CHRIST­MAS — Long­time sub­scriber of the Com­pass, Florence Welsh of Heart’s De­light-Is­ling­ton, was the big win­ner of the TC Me­dia Hol­i­day Give­away con­test. Al­though un­avail­able to pick up her prize, Florence’s son-in-law Scott Chislett (pic­tured) stopped by The Com­pass of­fice on Wa­ter Street in Car­bon­ear to pick it up for her on Dec. 23. Florence’s prize win­nings in­clude a Big Hugs Elmo, a 16GB iPod touch, $350 in gas cards and a $25 iTunes giftcard. Florence has re­ceived home de­liv­ery of the weekly news­pa­per for more than three decades. She re­ceives her pa­per from lo­cal car­rier, Jasymn Welsh.
