The Compass - - MUNICIPAL -

An article that appeared on Page A1 of the Jan. 14 print edition of The Compass headlined “Heart’s Content councillors to receive remuneration” included an error. The determination of remuneration for the town of Heart’s Content will be calculated with a formula of four per cent of total fixed revenue of the fiscal year to a max of $15,000, not the total budget as was explained in the article. Fixed revenue includes revenue raised from municipal taxes, municipal operating grants, grants in lieu and other assured revenues other than subsidies paid by the province to a council. The Compass has since learned councillors will only be eligible for remuneration if they attend more than half the public meetings per quarter.
