It was a busy day for Minister of Municipal Affairs Stephen Kent in the Trinity-Conception-Placentia region on Jan. 20.

Along with announcements in Whitbourne and Upper Island Cove, Kent was on hand in North River to announce some $300,000 in funding for the community.

The funding is 90/10 cost shared with the provincial government to improve drainage along Ashford’s Lane in North River.

“With the intense weather patterns in recent years, having proper drainage is essential to torns throughout the province,” said Kent. “We will work with the Town of North River to complete some much needed water upgrades which will provide better services to residents and families in the community.”

“This will enhance the drainage system within the community and lessen potetnial flooding during times of heavy precipitation,” added Port de Grave MHA Glenn Littlejohn.
