Local synchro teams perform well at regionals
A number of local teams recently returned from the 2014 Atlantic Regional Synchronized Skating Championships at The Glacier in Mount Pearl on Jan 31- Feb 1.
Skaters from the Conception Bay North Skating Club, the Trinity Placentia Figure Skating Club in Whitbourne, PARC Skating Club in Placentia all competed in the event to varying degrees of success.
CBNSC sent three teams to the competition, while Trinity Placentia had four teams and PARC also sent four teams.
In the beginner II category, the Ice Gems of CBNSC finishing second in the division by just .03.
The Frost Bites of PARCSC finished fourth in the division.
In the pre-novice synchro division, the T.P. Explosions placed took home the bronze medal after a third place finish.
The Ice Caps, of PARCSC, fin- ished in fifth, while CBNSC’s Icicles finished in sixth.
PARCSC took home a medal in the Beginner I Synchro division when the Frosty Blades finished in third place. The T.P. Sparks, of TPFSC, finished just behind them in fourth place.
The Icicles team that placed sixth also brought home the Butt Trophy. This trophy is voted on by the participating teams and is awarded to the team that best demostrates the qualities of good sportsmanship, spirit of fair play, cooperation and friendship.
The following are results for other teams in the competition:
• T.P. Eruptions (TPFSC) — seventh, elementary;
• Ice Creams (CBNSC) — fourth, juvenile;
• T.P. Flames (TPFSC) — fifth, juvenile;
• Frosty Crystals (PARCSC) — sixth, juvenile.
