St. Brides man gets jail time
A St. Brides man has been sentenced to 30 days of jail for a number of charges.
Eugene Francis Foley, 45, was sentenced at provincial court in Harbour Grace on April 4.
Jail time was just the tip of Foley’s sentences. He also received eight months house arrest, two years’ probation, two years driving prohibition and a three-year firearms prohibition after Foley pleaded guilty to four offences stemming from an incident last year.
Foley entered guilty pleas to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to blow the breathalyzer, initiating a police pursuit and assault with a weapon.
On June 23, 2013 members of the Placentia RCMP with assistance from the Whitbourne detachment attempted to stop Foley when they suspected he was impaired while operating his vehicle in the community.
