An article headlined “North Shore volunteer group meeting more like a wake” that was published in the May 12, 2014 print edition of The Compass, and published online at http://www.cbncom, is in need of clarification. When asked to explain why the North Shore Development Association had dissolved, Ray Johnson is quoted as saying that the closure of three seafood processing plants in Conception Bay North was a factor. This is incorrect. Johnson was, in fact, commenting on how important that plants in Old Perlican and Bay de Verde are to the area’s economy and future viability. The story also contained several spelling and editing errors. The Compass apologizes for these errors, and any inconvenience or embarrassment they may have caused.
