Bay Roberts man facing charges of impaired after collision
A 29-year-old Bay Roberts man was in court Thursday facing charges of impaired driving, damaging property and taking a vehicle without consent.
Around 2:30 a.m. Trinity Conception RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on Badcock Blvd. in the town. Justin Scott McDonald was arrested for the collision.
When officers arrived on scene, there was no one in the vehicle.
A short time later, a female passenger was found with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital by ambulance.
When McDonald was found, he provided breath samples to officers and it was determined he was over the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
He is facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his system, mischief related to property under $5,000, escaping from lawful custody and theft of a motor vehicle.
McDonald was scheduled to appear in court Friday, May 16 for a bail hearing. The outcome of the hearing was unknown prior to deadline.
