Bay Roberts man fac­ing charges of im­paired af­ter col­li­sion

A 29-year-old Bay Roberts man was in court Thurs­day fac­ing charges of im­paired driv­ing, dam­ag­ing property and tak­ing a ve­hi­cle with­out con­sent.

Around 2:30 a.m. Trin­ity Con­cep­tion RCMP re­sponded to a sin­gle ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Bad­cock Blvd. in the town. Justin Scott McDon­ald was ar­rested for the col­li­sion.

When of­fi­cers ar­rived on scene, there was no one in the ve­hi­cle.

A short time later, a fe­male pas­sen­ger was found with se­ri­ous, but non-life threat­en­ing in­juries. She was trans­ported to hospi­tal by am­bu­lance.

When McDon­ald was found, he pro­vided breath sam­ples to of­fi­cers and it was de­ter­mined he was over the le­gal limit of 80 mil­ligrams of al­co­hol per 100 millil­itres of blood.

He is fac­ing charges of im­paired driv­ing caus­ing bod­ily harm, im­paired driv­ing caus­ing bod­ily harm with over 80 mgs of al­co­hol in his sys­tem, mis­chief re­lated to property un­der $5,000, es­cap­ing from law­ful cus­tody and theft of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

McDon­ald was sched­uled to ap­pear in court Fri­day, May 16 for a bail hear­ing. The out­come of the hear­ing was un­known prior to dead­line.
