Bay Ladies fall short in provin­cial ti­tle bid

The Bay Ladies fell just shy of the Di­vi­sion I fe­male ti­tle af­ter a 55-54 de­feat at the hands of Toy­ota in the Di­vi­sion I provin­cial tour­na­ment held at Laval High School in Pla­cen­tia May 3-4.

It was a great show­ing of the group, com­prised mostly of play­ers from the Pla­cen­tia re­gion, against some of the top fe­male com­pe­ti­tion in the prov­ince.

Ken­dell Ka­vanagh paced the Bay Ladies’ of­fence with 14 points, while Robyn O’Reilly chipped in 11 points.

Kim Devin­son led the charge for Toy­ota with 16 points. She was aided in scor­ing by Kate Dev­er­aux (13 points) and Marik Valen­zen ( 12 points).

Toy­ota’s Amy Costello was named the tour­na­ment’s most valu­able player.

The game was a re­match of the open­ing round robin game, which saw the Bay Ladies earn a 10-point vic­tory ( 66- 56) over even­tual champs. The Bay Ladies fin­ished the round robin with an un­de­feated record, with wins over Dy­namic Physio (70-54) and the provin­cial un­der-17 fe­male team (75-35).
