The Tilton Bingo Hall was a hive of activity on May 19. It was time for CeeBees minor hockey to hold its annual awards banquet.

Divided into two ceremonies, the event brought together players from the youngest division (pre-novice) to the oldest division (midget).

Some 900 people filled the hall in advance for the culmination of the 2013-14 season.

For the younger banguet held at 2 p.m., the association brought in a magician as some pre-event entertainment.

The Harbour Grace-based CeeBees had a banner year, so to speak. The association sent 11 teams to provincial tournaments this season, with nine of them returning with medals.

There were four teams that captured provincial titles in the atom, peewee, female under-12 and bantam division.

The association had a big surprise for the championship teams when they arrived at the banquet. Each player received a personal replica of the banner that will hang from the rafters of the S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium in Harbour Grace. All association players also received a CeeBees water bottle to commemorate the year.

For nine players in attendance, it was to be their final event as a member of CeeBees minor hockey. They received a certificate and a trophy to commemorate their time spent wearing a CeeBees jersey.

“It was a great season,” said president Wendy Penney.

Some nine midgetaged players with CeeBees minor hockey saw their minor hockey careers conclude at the annual awards banquet May 11 at the Tilton Bingo Hall. They are: front (l-r) — Tyler Pike, Brandon Lynch, Colin Thomas and Mitchell Peddle; back — Matthew Murphy, Adam Slade, Brian Tetford, Bradley Riggs and Patrick Jayne.
