Brake’s sweep Car­bon­ear soft­ball ac­tion

It was a slow week in the Car­bon­ear Men’s Slo­p­itch League as only two games were played at the re­cre­ation com­plex on June 23.

In the first game, Brake’s Heat­ing al­most tripled East Coast Con­crete with a 15-6 vic­tory.

Kevin Pen­ney led the way for Brake’s with three hits, while Roy Flight, Tim Brake and Tyson Crant each had two hits.

East Coast were led by Karl Oates, Blair Parsons and Ver­non Lay­den, who had two hits apiece.

Sam White toed the rub­ber in vic­tory, while Ger­ard Grif­fin suf­fered the loss.

Brake’s con­tin­ued to roll in the sec­ond game of the evening.

This time, the team soundly de­feated Butt’s Esso 11-5.

Kevin Pen­ney and Tyson Crant sparked the Brake’s at­tack, knock­ing out a pair of hits each.

Butt’s were led by Jim King and Paul McCarthy, who reg­is­tered two hits apiece.

Kevin Pen­ney picked up the pitch­ing vic­tory, while Scott Cleary took the de­feat.
