— On July 9 at the Ernest R. Clarke Me­mo­rial Soft­ball Field in Vic­to­ria, Vic­to­ria Irv­ing soft­ball team mem­ber, El­iz­a­beth Tay­lor, took a huge swing in the third in­ning, against K & T Con­crete Works Ltd., who were leading sig­nif­i­cantly over Irv­ing. Fel­low tea­mate Char­lene Crocker watches, wait­ing for her turn at bat. Play­ers come from all over Con­cep­tion Bay North to take part in the all-fe­male league. There are two other teams in the league, Bar­rett’s Sawmill and Dr. El­liott Den­tistry. All four teams play a game ev­ery Mon­day and Wed­nes­day, al­ter­nat­ing their op­po­nents. Some of the play­ers have been tak­ing part for the en­tire five years the league has been in ex­is­tance, while oth­ers picked up a bat for the first time in June.
