SWING BATTER, BATTER
— On July 9 at the Ernest R. Clarke Memorial Softball Field in Victoria, Victoria Irving softball team member, Elizabeth Taylor, took a huge swing in the third inning, against K & T Concrete Works Ltd., who were leading significantly over Irving. Fellow teamate Charlene Crocker watches, waiting for her turn at bat. Players come from all over Conception Bay North to take part in the all-female league. There are two other teams in the league, Barrett’s Sawmill and Dr. Elliott Dentistry. All four teams play a game every Monday and Wednesday, alternating their opponents. Some of the players have been taking part for the entire five years the league has been in existance, while others picked up a bat for the first time in June.
