Informaiton centres receive support
A pair of visitor information centres in Conception Bay North will be receiving funding through the Visitor Information Centre Program.
In a release on July 9, centres in Bay Roberts and Harbour Grace, along with 23 other similar centres, will receive a total of $147,800 in operationl support from the provincial government.
“Whether you are a local resident or tourist, the ability to access information about events, accomodations and amenities throughout the province is an essential part of the tourism experience,” said Sandy Collins, minister of tourism, culture and recreation.
Other centres receiving funding are Baie Verte, Bay Bulls, Conne River, Corner Brook, Elliston, Gambo, Gander, Glovertown, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gros Morne, Happy Valley Goose-Bay, Hawke’s Bay, Labrador Straits, Labrador City, Manuels, Marystown, Mount Pearl, Newville, Springdale, St. Anthony and St. John’s.
“This funding will help the centres continue to provide the valuable service they offer to the travelling public, thereby enhancing the tourism experience in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Collins.
Since 2006, the provincial government has invested more than $100 million in tourism marketing.
