In­for­maiton cen­tres re­ceive sup­port

A pair of vis­i­tor in­for­ma­tion cen­tres in Con­cep­tion Bay North will be re­ceiv­ing fund­ing through the Vis­i­tor In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre Pro­gram.

In a re­lease on July 9, cen­tres in Bay Roberts and Har­bour Grace, along with 23 other sim­i­lar cen­tres, will re­ceive a to­tal of $147,800 in op­er­a­tionl sup­port from the provin­cial govern­ment.

“Whether you are a lo­cal res­i­dent or tourist, the abil­ity to ac­cess in­for­ma­tion about events, ac­co­mo­da­tions and ameni­ties through­out the prov­ince is an es­sen­tial part of the tourism ex­pe­ri­ence,” said Sandy Collins, min­is­ter of tourism, cul­ture and re­cre­ation.

Other cen­tres re­ceiv­ing fund­ing are Baie Verte, Bay Bulls, Conne River, Cor­ner Brook, El­lis­ton, Gambo, Gan­der, Glovertown, Grand Falls-Wind­sor, Gros Morne, Happy Val­ley Goose-Bay, Hawke’s Bay, Labrador Straits, Labrador City, Manuels, Marys­town, Mount Pearl, Newville, Spring­dale, St. Anthony and St. John’s.

“This fund­ing will help the cen­tres con­tinue to pro­vide the valu­able ser­vice they of­fer to the trav­el­ling pub­lic, thereby en­hanc­ing the tourism ex­pe­ri­ence in New­found­land and Labrador,” said Collins.

Since 2006, the provin­cial govern­ment has in­vested more than $100 mil­lion in tourism mar­ket­ing.
