KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL
— The most important part of hitting a baseball is keeping your eye on the ball when you’re at the plate. A hitter has to follow the ball until it hits the bat. Likewise for catchers and umpires. They have to ensure they pay attention to the flight of the nineinch ball in order to do their jobs. With the ball in midflight, mosquito division hitter Colby Barrett (left) watches the ball coming in, while catcher Dylan Whelan and umpire Noah Wilson fixate on the flying object during action at the ballfield in Spaniard’s Bay on July 15.
