Brake’s Heat­ing drop three straight in slo-pitch ac­tion

East Coast Con­crete took the first of two games in Car­bon­ear Slo-Pitch Soft­ball League ac­tion at the Car­bon­ear Re­cre­ation Com­plex on July 14, nar­rowly de­feated Brake’s Heat­ing 10-7.

Leading the way for the vic­tors was Blair Parsons, who col­lected three hits. Karl Oates, Chad Parsons and Ryan Dean de­liv­ered tow hits apiece for East Coast.

Brake’s were paced at the plate by Roy Flight with two hits.

Tom Har­ris had the vic­tory on the rub­ber, while Sam White took the loss.

In the sec­ond game of the evening, Brake’s again came up short. This time, the team dropped a 15-11 de­ci­sion to Butt’s Esso.

Gord King belted a home­run and col­lected two other hits to lead the way for Butt’s. Stacey Mo­ri­ar­ity and Ja­son Power also had three hits apiece in the win, while Paul O’Leary had two hits.

Tim Brake and Kevin Pen­ney were the brightspots at the plate for Brake’s with two hits each.

Scott Cleary tossed the win, while

Sam White suf­fered the de­feat.

July 10

• Butt’s Esso 5, East Coast Con­crete 0;

Phil Hur­ley lead the way at the plate of Butt’s in their shutout vic­tory with two hits.

For East Coast, Blair Parsons and Mat Davis had two hits apiece.

Scott Cleary picked up the win, while Den­nis King took the loss.

• East Coast Con­crete 19, Brake’s Heat­ing 10;

In this high-scor­ing af­fair, East Coast were led by Karl Oates, Blair Parsons and Bradley Har­ris with three hits apiece. Ryan Dean and Jeff Parsons con­trib­uted two hits apiece in the win.

Tyson Crant and Barry Short col­lected three hits apiece in the de­feat, while Kevin Pen­ney, Sam White and Jeff King had two hits each for Brake’s.

Den­nis King toed the rub­ber for the win, while Sam White suf­fered the loss.

As of July 14, league standings look like this — In first are Butt’s Esso, fol­lowed by Brake’s Heat­ing and East Coast Con­crete.
