Regionalization should be focus

The Compass - - NEWS -

Sober second thought or Senate decision. Whatever the case, I do believe those involved in the new sports complex for Harbour Grace should should take a step back and rethink the whole plan.

After driving by the proposed site and all of the goings on this past few years over whether or not it should go ahead or not, something seems amiss.

Being from an area serviced largely by the Town of Bay Roberts, our children are always bused or by some other means of transportation, to all kinds of sporting events or some other functions.

Our grandchildren enrolled in a swimming course that should have begun on Monday, July 7, but was delayed for several days because of maintenance problems. My goodness, it’s the middle of July. Where was the planning?

What I do see is with a growing population in our area, there is a need for more sports facilities, and any money spent on our youth in this way would only give our youth a place to grow and mature.

Maybe it is time to think outside the box and come together as a larger community with the needs of all our region and put something in place for the good of the whole area.
