New win­dows for Tri­con Ele­men­tary

The provin­cial govern­ment an­nounced Mon­day, July 28 that a Bay de Verde school will be get­ting new win­dows.

A ten­der for some $188,000 has been awarded to Coastal Build­ing Prod­ucts and Ser­vices Ltd. in Mount Pearl to in­stall the new win­dows at Tri­con Ele­men­tary.

The school serves just over 100 stu­dents from kin­der­garten to Grade 6 from about a dozen com­mu­ni­ties, in­clud­ing Browns­dale, Lower Is­land Cove and Old Per­li­can.

Tri­con has un­der­gone sev­eral up­grades in re­cent years, in­clud­ing a roof­ing project last year cost­ing some $227,000.

A play­ground was also re­placed in 2013 through do­na­tions, spon­sor­ships and fundrais­ing. It cost some $15,000.

No spe c i f i c s h a v e b een an­nounced on when the work is ex­pected to be­gin, or if it will be com­pleted be­fore school be­gins in Septem­ber.
