$5.3 mil­lion for Port de Grave district

The district of Port de Grave was the fo­cal point of two govern­ment fund­ing an­nounce­ments to­day to­talling some $5.3 mil­lion for the area.

Min­is­ter for Mu­nic­i­pal Af­fairs Dan Crum­mell and MHA Glenn Lit­tle­john were on hand to make the an­nounce­ments in the district.

Some $1.4 mil­lion in cap­i­tal works fund­ing that will be used to­wards in­fra­struc­ture up­grades.

The largest por­tion, $600,000, will be used for up­grades to Mint Cove Road and the in­ter­sec­tion of the Con­cep­tion Bay High­way and Perry’s Hill in the Town of Spa­niard’s Bay. An ad­di­tional $247,000 was al­lot­ted for sewage treat­ment sys­tem up­grades for the town.

Clarke’s Beach will re­ceive $422,000 for wa­ter and sewer up­grades to Wil­sonville Av­enue, and $136,000 will be used for St. An­drew’s Lane and Meadow Road in Up­per Is­land Cove.

The Town of Bay Roberts, the largest mu­nic­i­pal­ity in Con­cep­tion Bay North, will see $3.9 mil­lion in cost-shared, multi-year fund­ing.

Although de­tails were not pro­vided on spe­cific projects that the money would go, fund­ing was said to be go­ing to­wards road im­prove­ments and wa­ter and sewer up­grades.
