A VISIT TO THE NORTH POLE

The Compass - - FRONT PAGE -

— Victoria’s own Trevor Baldwin has experienced something very few people have — a trip to the North Pole. As an engine room technician aboard the CCGS Terry Fox, Baldwin was a part of a six-week Arctic expedition that began on Aug. 8. After 19 days, he and the crew arrived at the North Pole. Although it is not known if Baldwin got to meet the jolly old elf in red on his venture, he did get this photo taken by Santa’s workshop. The Fox was the second vessel to arrive, behind the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent. The crews from both ships took part in hockey and polar golf at the pole, as well as completing the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.
