Clarke’s Beach boy in run­ning for provin­cial soc­cer team

A Clarke’s Beach boy is among those who’ve earned a shot to rep­re­sent New­found­land and Labrador at an At­lantic soc­cer com­pe­ti­tion next sum­mer.

Zachary Crane, a goal­keeper with the CBN Light­ning soc­cer club, is one of 23 play­ers vy­ing for a spot on the 2015 boys un­der-13 provin­cial team.

Twenty play­ers will com­prise the fi­nal roster to take part in the Un­der-13 At­lantic All-Star Cham­pi­onships, to be held next July in Cor­ner Brook.

Zachary al­ready has ex­pe­ri­ence rep­re­sent­ing the prov­ince. This sum­mer, he was a mem­ber of the provin­cial un­der-12 team that com­peted in an ex­hi­bi­tion se­ries in Toronto, Ont.

The cur­rent player pool for the un­der-13 team was de­ter­mined based on try­outs. The New­found­land and Labrador Soc­cer As­so­ci­a­tion will pick the fi­nal roster next spring.
