Eastern health response:
Do you have a birthing horror story? Share it with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
To ensure emergency C-sections are performed in the shortest amount of time possible, Eastern Health has implemented a process at the Carbonear General Hospital, which includes alerting all members of the operating room team of the emergency situation. Once alerted, the team is expected to present to the hospital (or if already at the hos- pital, to the unit) immediately.
Eastern Health has a system in place to monitor reported occurrences and close calls, as well as patient complaints received through the Client Relations Office. This system provides valuable information for follow-up, tracking and trending purposes. Through this system, information regarding complications in relation to deliveries is available … As per normal protocol, in any adverse or potential adverse event, Eastern Health conducts a thorough review of the situation, which involves Eastern Health’s Quality Patient Safety and Risk Management department and pertinent staff involved in a patient’s circle of care.
Patients who have questions or concerns about their health care are encouraged to discuss them directly with their care team or contact Eastern Health’s Client Relations Office toll free at 1-877-4441399, or at 709-777-6500. Eastern Health takes every comment or complaint seriously, and will make every effort to resolve an individual’s concerns.
Eastern Health’s top priority is to provide quality care to its patients, clients, and residents.
