To en­sure emer­gency C-sec­tions are per­formed in the short­est amount of time pos­si­ble, East­ern Health has im­ple­mented a process at the Car­bon­ear Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal, which in­cludes alert­ing all mem­bers of the op­er­at­ing room team of the emer­gency sit­u­a­tion. Once alerted, the team is ex­pected to present to the hos­pi­tal (or if al­ready at the hos- pital, to the unit) im­me­di­ately.

East­ern Health has a sys­tem in place to mon­i­tor re­ported oc­cur­rences and close calls, as well as pa­tient com­plaints re­ceived through the Client Re­la­tions Of­fice. This sys­tem pro­vides valu­able in­for­ma­tion for follow-up, track­ing and trend­ing pur­poses. Through this sys­tem, in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing com­pli­ca­tions in relation to de­liv­er­ies is avail­able … As per nor­mal pro­to­col, in any ad­verse or po­ten­tial ad­verse event, East­ern Health con­ducts a thor­ough re­view of the sit­u­a­tion, which in­volves East­ern Health’s Qual­ity Pa­tient Safety and Risk Man­age­ment depart­ment and per­ti­nent staff in­volved in a pa­tient’s cir­cle of care.
