Vic­to­ria Lions Christ­mas Pa­rade

The pa­rade will be held Satur­day, Dec. 13, be­gin­ning at 10 a.m. Line up will be­gin at the Per­salvic park­ing lot.

Le­gion jam ses­sion

The Royal Cana­dian Le­gion Branch 32 Bay Roberts lo­cated on Wa­ter Street will host a jam ses­sion on Satur­day, Dec. 13, start­ing at 3 p.m. All wel­come to come and en­joy great lo­cal tal­ent.

Car­bon­ear Santa

Claus Pa­rade

The pa­rade will take place Dec. 14. If any groups are in­ter­ested in en­ter­ing a float please see any mem­ber of the Car­bon­ear Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment. Penny’s Courier will again be col­lect­ing for the lo­cal food bank dur­ing the pa­rade.

Craft and bake sale

There will be a craft and bake sale on Sun­day, Dec. 14, at the Lion’s Club in Bay Roberts be­tween 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. A fundraiser for Mol­lie’ Dream.

Lions Club open mic

The Shearstown Lions Club will host its monthly Sun­day af­ter­noon open mic Dec. 14. Doors Open at 1 p.m. and the mu­sic starts at 2 p.m. Can­teen ser­vice will be avail­able.

Old fash­ioned con­cert

At the Orange Lodge in Clarke’s Beach, Satur­day, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. Pay at the door.

New Year’s Eve din­ner

Pla­cen­tia play­ground project

The South­east Play­ground Im­prove­ment Com­mit­tee idea to im­prove the Wayne John Searle Memo­rial Recre­ation Com­plex in Pla­cen­tia has made it to the semi-fi­nal round of the Aviva Com­mu­nity Fund Com­pe­ti­tion. WE can po­ten­tially earn up to $50,000 to pur­chase new equip­ment for the play­ground. To make the fi­nals, we are ask­ing res­i­dents of the Trin­ity, Con­cep­tion and Pla­cen­tia bays to vote daily Dec. 1-10. The chil- dren of Pla­cen­tia thank you in ad­vance for your votes! Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion church re­search com­mit­tee

The Dio­cese of Grand Falls and the Parish Coun­cil of Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Parish Har­bour Grace are look­ing for vol­un­teers in­ter­ested in un­cov­er­ing new and cre­ative po­ten­tial uses for Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Church. The dio­cese and the Parish Coun­cil came to the dif­fi­cult decision to close the his­toric church, but hope a new use or pur­pose re­spect­ing the sa­cred character of the church can be found. MEET­ING MR. GRINCH — New Har­bour Youth and Recre­ation’s 2nd An­nual Brunch with the Grinch on Nov. 30 had a won­der­ful turnout. Close to 300 peo­ple en­joyed their food and watched a Grinch movie clip be­fore hav­ing their pic­ture taken with Mr. Grinch him­self. Seated on the Grinch’s knee is Brooke Tay­lor, and Lily Hef­ford is pic­tured sport­ing a dog cos­tume in the bot­tom left cor­ner. Stand­ing be­hind the Grinch are Kylie Rae George and Bri­anne George.
