Seniors card game
There will be a Free Seniors Card Game at the Royal Canadian Legion in Carbonear on Tuesday, Dec. 9, starting at 8 p.m. All are welcome, and a light lunch will be served. For more info, call 596-3691.
Victoria Lions Christmas Parade
The parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, beginning at 10 a.m. Line up will begin at the Persalvic parking lot.
Legion jam session
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 Bay Roberts located on Water Street will host a jam session on Saturday, Dec. 13, starting at 3 p.m. All welcome to come and enjoy great local talent.
The parade will take place Dec. 14. If any groups are interested in entering a float please see any member of the Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department. Penny’s Courier will again be collecting for the local food bank during the parade.
Craft and bake sale
There will be a craft and bake sale on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Lion’s Club in Bay Roberts between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. A fundraiser for Mollie’ Dream.
Lions Club open mic
The Shearstown Lions Club will host its monthly Sunday afternoon open mic Dec. 14. Doors Open at 1 p.m. and the music starts at 2 p.m. Canteen service will be available.
Old fashioned concert
At the Orange Lodge in Clarke’s Beach, Saturday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. Pay at the door.
New Year’s Eve dinner

Placentia playground project
The Southeast Playground Improvement Committee idea to improve the Wayne John Searle Memorial Recreation Complex in Placentia has made it to the semi-final round of the Aviva Community Fund Competition. WE can potentially earn up to $50,000 to purchase new equipment for the playground. To make the finals, we are asking residents of the Trinity, Conception and Placentia bays to vote daily Dec. 1-10. Immaculate Conception church research committee
The Diocese of Grand Falls and the Parish Council of Immaculate Conception Parish Harbour Grace are looking for volunteers interested in uncovering new and creative potential uses for Immaculate Conception Church. The diocese and the Parish Council came to the difficult decision to close the historic church, but hope a new use or purpose respecting the sacred character of the church can be found. MEETING MR. GRINCH — New Harbour Youth and Recreation’s 2nd Annual Brunch with the Grinch on Nov. 30 had a wonderful turnout. Close to 300 people enjoyed their food and watched a Grinch movie clip before having their picture taken with Mr. Grinch himself. Seated on the Grinch’s knee is Brooke Taylor, and Lily Hefford is pictured sporting a dog costume in the bottom left corner. Standing behind the Grinch are Kylie Rae George and Brianne George.
