Too many cod for Whitbourne man
A man from Whitbourne has been convicted for catching too many codfish during the most recent recreational food fishery.
Frank Jones was convicted on Oct. 22, according to a Department of Fisheries and Oceans news release issued Thursday. He was convicted for catching and retaining more than the allowable daily catch limit.
The maximum allowable catch is five fish per day during the summer and fall fisheries. Jones caught 15 fish.
Jones was fined $1,000 in Harbour Grace provincial court. He is also banned from taking part in any recreational fishery for 12 months.
