Cold weather no con­cern at Pla­cen­tia Santa Claus pa­rade

A bit­ter, cold wind could not keep the crowds away from the an­nual Pla­cen­tia Santa Claus pa­rade on Dec. 6. Each per­son bun­dled up with ex­tra cloth­ing to watch floats that in­cluded LE­GOs, Mario Kart and Dis­ney’s Frozen. But, they all paled in com­par­i­son to the man ev­ery child wanted to see — Santa Claus. The Com­pass was there and cap­tured th­ese images.

The Pla­cen­tia Recre­ation Com­mis­sion dis­played its finest sports jer­seys for the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s float. Shown here are, from left, George Hat­field, Jonathan Roach, Aliyah Best, Annabelle Green, Nathan Pel­frey and Ray­mond Neville.

This group of young peo­ple took an ad­ven­torous turn with their Mario Kart themed stroll as a part of the Pla­cen­tia pa­rade. The group from Sobey’s in Pla­cen­tia were all smiles ahead of their chilly ride through the pa­rade. They are, from left, Keith Pear­son, Des Line­han, Diane Fol­lett, Is­abel Mur­ray, Bernie Lewis, Amanda Kelly and Janie Lane.

The Po­lar Ex­press had a set of four young pas­sen­gers for its ride through with the Pla­cen­tia pa­rade. They are, from left, Ella Meade, Sarah McGrath, Clare McGrath and Car­son Meade.

The Pla­cen­tia cam­pus of the Col­lege of the North At­lantic put to­gether this colour­ful LEGO float for the pa­rade.
