A deal struck earlier this month allowed foreign workers stranded in Argentia for several weeks to finally head home.

According to a news release issued by FFAW-Unifor, a new owner purchased the Jana and paid the 11 crewmembers the wages they were owed. As of mid-October, that figure exceeded $120,000.

While some of those workers were due to return home, others elected to work for the vessel’s new owners. The crew consisted of three Russians and eight Ukrainians.

The union expressed its gratitude in the news release to those who’ve helped the stranded crewmembers, who at times were short on food, water and medication.
