MUR­PHY, Marie- Passed peace­fully away sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily at the In­ter­faith Cit­i­zen’s Home, Car­bon­ear on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 2, 2015, Marie Mur­phy of Kingston, age 89 years. Pre­de­ceased by hus­band: Jack, son: Henry (Frances), grand­son: John, son-in-law: Fred; par­ents: Sa­muel and Adella Hur­ley, sis­ters: Catherine and Ju­lia; broth­ers: Vin­cent and Lawrence. Left to mourn, seven daugh­ters: Anita (Frank) Loder, Sum­mer­side, Brenda (Evan) Flight, Small Point, Pa­tri­cia (Randy) Hatch, Kingston, Sheila ( Jeff) Ge­orge, Ed­mon­ton, AB, Christine (Gerald, de­ceased) Doyle, Bris­tol’s Hope, Paula (Boyd) Slade, Salmon Cove and Deb Mur­phy, Ed­mon­ton, AB; four sons: Ed (Claire), Monc­ton, NB, Brian, Kingston, Eu­gene (Kathy), Ottawa, ON and Pa­trick (Colleen), Heart’s De­sire; twenty-seven grand­chil­dren: Jeff, Ken­neth (Rox­anne), Jamie, Trevor, Ellen, Melinda ( Jeff ), Randy, Ash­ley (Ryan), Al­li­son ( Justin), Jody (Colleen), Jared, Jor­dan (Kris­tii), Christina (Michael), Jerry, Gil­lian, Mark, Krista (Barry), Christo­pher (Dana), Colin ( Jana), Jen­nifer, Amanda (Perry), Vanessa, Adam, Peter, Jes­sica, Matthew and Julie (Tom); seven­teen great­grand­chil­dren: Scott, Abigail, Carys, Ethan, Jack, Avery, Rea­gan, Bron­son, Aaliyah, Alexis, Michael, Kacey, Cameron, Sarah, Chan­tal, Gia and Alex; also a large num­ber of other rel­a­tives and friends. Fr. Ce­sar De­rit con­ducted the Fu­neral Mass on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 7 from St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Kingston. Inurn­ment took place in St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery, Kingston. Dona­tions in her mem­ory may be made to a char­ity of one’s choice. SAMSON, Ed­ward Sr. - Passed peace­fully away at the Cari­bou Vet­er­ans Pav­il­ion, St. John’s on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 28, 2015, Ed­ward Samson Sr. of Car­bon­ear, age 92 years. Pre­de­ceased by wife: He­len; son-in-law: Paul Rodgers; broth­ers: Rex and Wil­liam; sis­ters: Clara and Emily. Left to mourn, five daugh­ters: Catherine Rodgers and El­iz­a­beth ‘Betty’ Pike (Will White), both of Car­bon­ear, Martha Samson, St. John’s, Au­drey (Derek) Pitcher, Heart’s Con­tent and Emily Samson (Tim Gal­lant), Oshawa, ON; three sons: Ed­ward (Bev­erly), Con­cep­tion Bay South, Jerry, Car­bon­ear and David (Shirley), Heart’s Con­tent; six­teen grand­chil­dren; nine great-grand­chil­dren; sis­ter-in-law: Au­drey Clarke, Mount Pearl; spe­cial friend: Nan Wheadon, Fresh­wa­ter, Car­bon­ear; also a large num­ber of other rel­a­tives and friends. Rested at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Wa­ter Street, Car­bon­ear. Rev. Ken Pen­ney con­ducted the fu­neral ser­vice on Satur­day, Jan­uary 31 from St. James Angli­can Church, Car­bon­ear. In­ter­ment took place in St. James Angli­can Ceme­tery, Car­bon­ear.
