Laval High School in Placentia loves musicals. This year, they are doing The Heartless Giant, which contains many upbeat and mainstream songs. In fact, one song is bound to get parents singing along. The 1997 hit by Leann Rimes “How Do I Live” is one of the songs the students are learning. Music teacher Barry Davis (left) has been working with members of the band on different songs for performances taking place May 12 and 13, including “How Do I Live.” His son Jackson (right) plays the bass, and he heard the song for the first time while learning it for the musical. Barry helps his son make some note transitions during practice, while other band members, drummers Ryan Hickey and Chris DaSilva, guitarist Shawn Bruce, keyboardist Jordan Pomeroy and singers Paula Milley and Maggie Follett, practice their own parts. Some 70 students are taking part in this year’s musical.
