Western racks up a three-win week
Western Petroleum had a great night at the ball park on June 17.
The team brought home both games it played at the Carbonear Recreation Complex as a part of the Carboenar Slo Pitch Softball League.
In the first game, Western narrowly defeated Butt’s Esso 7-6. Trevor Parsons was the top man at the plate for the winner. He belted out three hits and was helped out by Roy Flight, Sam White and Shannon Chafe, who each had a pair of hits.
For Butt’s, Stacey Moriarity, Jim King and Gord King knocked out a pair of hits each.
White took the win, while Moriarity was saddled with the loss.
In the second game Western thumped East Coast Concrete 16-5.
For Western, Mat Davis, Nick Rossiter, Scott Cleary and Jeff King had three hits each. Meanwhile, Flight, Kenny Hunt and Keith Peddle had a pair of hits for the winners.
Karl Oats, Jamie March, Vernon Layden and Ryan Dean led the way for Butt’s.
White once again picked up the win, while Dennis King took the loss. ° East Coat Concrete 10, Butt’s Esso 4 Blair Parsons belted out three hits for East Coast, while Jamie March, Jeff Parsons, Dennis King, Wilson Snow, Steve Burke and Greg Slade helped out with two hits.
For Butt’s, Paul O’Leary had a three hit game, while Justin and Chris Parsons had two hits.
Dennis King took the win and Gerard Griffin suffered the loss. ° Western Petroleum 7, Butt’s Esso 4 Leading the way for Western was Dan Keats with four hits. Roy Flight had three hits, while Mat Davis and Sam White knocked out a pair.
Paul O’Leary and Stacey Moriarity had three hits apiece for Butt’s, while Chris Parsons and Jody Doyle had two hits.
Sam White took the win, while Stacey Moriarity registered the loss.
