Civic numbers hard to come by in some cases

The Compass - - EDITORIAL -

Frank Antle makes an excellent point about the importance of displaying your house number (“House numbers save lives” — June 30, 2015). But what if your house doesn’t have a number?

Our home is in an unincorporated area of Conception Bay North, and all our attempts to discover its civic number have been in vain.

I understand that Nova Scotia dealt with a similar problem a few years ago by setting up a civic addressing program that assigned a number to every home and business in the province.

Now that we have provincewide 911 service, isn’t it time for Newfoundland and Labrador to do the same?
