A story concerning a residential development along Route 70 in Harbour Grace incorrectly reported that the town approved a motion to issue a stop-work order (“Town approves stop work order,” July 21, 2015). At the meeting last Wednesday, Coun. Gordon Stone put forward a motion to issue a stop-work order to the developer, 10910 Newfoundland Inc., and arrange a meeting to settle issues the town has with progress on the project. Mayor Terry Barnes subsequently added that the town should not issue or enforce a stop-work order until it gets a chance to meet with the developer prior to council’s next public meeting in August. The motion approved by council in a 5-2 vote was to meet with the developer before the next meeting and, should the town’s concerns not be settled, issue a stop-work order during the subsequent council meeting. The Compass regrets any confusion this error may have caused.
