The former Heyfield United Memorial Church in Heart’s Content is getting a substantial facelift. The exterior of the 137-year-old building is already being renovated, and some work is also happening inside. The church closed in 2009, but is located in the historic district of Heart’s Content. Some $350,000 is being invested to update the structure, although it will still keep its original look and heritage appeal. Those on site were working hard last Wednesday when The Compass popped by for a photo. It appears the project is nowhere near completion, but one of the workers said it will be all worth it when it’s finished.
