Congrats new Canadians
There are 36 new people calling themselves Canadians in Newfoundland and Labrador after a citizenship ceremony in Cupid’s Aug. 16. The event, which was held at the Cupids Legacy Centre, was filled with laughter, tears and hugs from family and friends of those who took the oath. From toddlers to seniors, these new Canadians came from all over the globe to become part of our society as permanent residents. This was one of 107 ceremonies scheduled between August 12 and Aug. 28, and the only one in this province. To conclude the event, all new Canadians held on to a 30-foot Canadian flag as a part of a flag raising. The flag is one of the biggest Canadian Flags in the province.
