Cabin break-in sus­pect makes bail

One of the men ar­rested in con­nec­tion to a se­ries of cabin break-ins in the Pla­cen­tia area made bail ear­lier this week.

Chad Stephen Clarke was re­leased on per­sonal re­cog­ni­zance and a surety at pro­vin­cial court in Har­bour Grace on Aug. 24.

The 22-year-old is fac­ing nine counts of break and en­ter and sin­gle-count charges of ar­son, theft of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle and fail­ure to com­ply with an un­der­tak­ing.

Clarke was the sec­ond sus­pect ar­rested in con­nec­tion to the break-ins. Damian Roy Brewer is the other. Brewer is fac­ing iden­ti­cal charges, plus a sin­gle count charge of pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty.

The break-ins took place in late May at cot­tages be­tween Pla­cen­tia and Co­linet.

Clarke will next ap­pear in Har­bour Grace on Sept. 2.
