New fire truck for Placentia brigade
The Placentia Volunteer Fire Department will be getting a new customized pumper truck.
The news was announced last Tuesday in the community, with Darin King, the minister responsible for fire and emergency services, on hand to share the details.
“This customized fire truck will enhance the capabilities of the Placentia Volunteer Fire Department, ensuring homes and businesses in the area are even better protected,” King said in a news release issued the following morning.
The provincial government and the Town of Placentia will jointly handle the cost of the $340,000 truck. Placentia will be on the hook for 20 per cent of that amount. The truck will have additional features and capabilities as prioritized by members of the local fire department.
“A well-equipped fire department is critical to a community’s sense of security,” Mayor Wayne Power Jr. said in the same release. “This customized fire truck will provide the capabilities our firefighters need to complete their work as quickly as possible. I thank everyone who advocated for this new fire truck.”
