Enrolment up at CNA Carbonear campus
College of the North Atlantic’s Carbonear campus witnessed a dramatic increase to the student population this fall.
According to the school, 232 students were enrolled this September. That’s a 73 per cent increase over the student population in September 2014, when 134 students were enrolled in Carbonear.
CNA spokesman Roger Hulan told The Compass the increased enrolment was spread through existing programs and three new programs in Carbonear — the construction/industrial electrician, personal care attendant and practical nurse programs.
There were 81 students at the CNA campus in Placentia to start the fall, three students below enrolment figures for September 2014. Hulan said as a campus with programs starting at different points over the next few months, Placentia will likely see that population increase 20 per cent by March of next year.
College of the North Atlantic’s Carbonear campus is a little more crowded this fall.
