The Compass - - SPORTS -

Three people were transported to hospital after a truck hit a moose near Dunville last week.

According to Placentia RCMP, a Brink’s security truck was travelling north on Route 100 last Wednesday when it struck a bull moose and rolled into the ditch.

An SUV right behind the truck also struck the moose, which was euthanized.

The accident happened at around 7 p.m.

All three passengers in the truck were taken to Placentia Hospital, where they were treated and released.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

In a news release, police said moose are more likely to appear along the side of the road between dusk and dawn, therefore motorists need to pay extra attention to the edge of roadways.
