Passed peace­fully away at the Har­bour Lodge Nurs­ing Home, Car­bon­ear, on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 10, 2015, Tom Oates of Car­bon­ear, age 80 years. Pre­de­ceased by par­ents: Tom and Mol­lie; sis­ter: Sy­bil Wright; brother: Art; sis­ters-in­law: Beatrice and Mar­jorie Oates and broth­ers-in-law: C.B. Wright, Bob Thorne and Ralph How­ell. Left to mourn, two sons: Keith (Linda), Car­bon­ear and Tom, Alberta, and their mother, Mary Ann Roberts-Oates; two grand­chil­dren: Ash­ley (Steven) and Jonathan; two great-grand­chil­dren: Mad­die and Ri­ley; five broth­ers: Bill (Clara) and Ce­cil, both of Car­bon­ear, Dereck (Cathy), Cor­ner Brook, Melvin, Roaches Line and Ted (Greta), Car­bon­ear; two sis­ters: Vickie

Rested at Noel’s Fu­neral Home, Wa­ter Street, Car­bon­ear. Rev. Brian Col­bourne con­ducted the fu­neral ser­vice on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 14 from Bethany United Church, Car­bon­ear. Cre­ma­tion took place. Inurn­ment took place at Park Av­enue United Ceme­tery, Car­bon­ear South.
