The Compass - - FEATURE - BY MELISSA JENKINS

The morning of Saturday, Dec. 12, the sun was shining and the temperature was above freezing, the perfect temperature for a parade.

And

the

parade

in

Whit- bourne went off without a hitch.

Over a dozen entries marched along the main road just after 11 a.m., and children and adults alike were happy to wave to the adoring spectators.

Here are some snapshots from the Whitbourne Santa Claus parade.

Candy Land was where all the kids wanted to be in Whitbourne. The float was created for the annual Santa Claus parade, and had many local kids ride along. They were, from left, Ethan Clarke, Jill Parsons, Mac Phillips, Bryce Fudge, Jack Moore, Abby Phillips, Brynley Fudge and Taylor Temple.

Zoie’s fire truck was a popular addition to this year’s parade. Riding along were Bernadette Coombs (far left), Craig Drover (front), Zoie Drover (back left), Jeannie Crocker (back right) and Summer Vokey (in the window of the fire truck). They all had a blast.

The Whitbourne Public Library had plenty of books on display for the parade. All the children that participated in the library’s entry dressed as different popular books. They also handed out homemade bookmarks and candy canes along the parade route. The paperback kids included, from left, Norah Young, Kenley Young, Catherine Mercer, Brianna Green, Amelia Mercer, Amelia Byrne, Nathan Sooley and Anna Johnson.

Shrek and Fiona were a popular duo in Whitbourne for the parade.
