Drug seizure at docks in Bay Roberts

Searches taken aboard three ves­sels in Bay Roberts and St. An­thony re­sulted in the seizure of drugs and con­tra­band tobacco, amongst other items.

Ac­cord­ing to a Canada Border Ser­vices Agency news release, ap­prox­i­mately 450 grams of hashish and 35 car­tons of con­tra­band tobacco were seized dur­ing the searches, which started Nov. 13 and con­tin­ued into the early hours of the fol­low­ing day. Also seized was a small amount of mar­i­juana, drug para­pher­na­lia, and a firearm si­lencer.

Two crewmem­bers that re­port­edly were found with small amounts of hashish in their cab­ins were ar­rested and later re­leased. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion con­tin­ues.
